I made it into one of the io9 Halloween costume contest photo drops this week. Check it out. I'm photo #2.

My friend Eric called me, frantic and freaking out, asking me why I was invading his internet. It was pretty awesome.
It's a long way from Michigan to Texas, so here's a little record of what we've been up to.

We're Still Alive!
Hello! Sorry! Life is hectic.
I had to swing by campus today to do a couple hours of labwork. Brandon accompanied me, and took a couple pictures.

I spent the whole time at the fume hood.
It was nice to have some company.
I asked Brandon to take a picture of this part, because I think it looks cool.
He obliged, even though he didn't really agree.
That's it! Sorry for the quick update, but I'm super busy this week. Hopefully Brandon will update soon with some restaurant reviews.

Brindles Awesom Ice Cream (Yes it's spelled like that)
We found an awesom(e) ice cream shop!
Any of my Kalamazoo friends will know that I am super excited about this because I hang out in ice cream parlors the way normal people hang out in coffee shops. Actually, I do a lot of hanging out in coffee shops, cafes and tea houses, too.
Anyway, it's called Brindles Awesom Ice Cream. I'm not sure why they leave the 'e' off of awesome, so I'll have to ask them and let you know.
There are a few things about Brindles that I find really exciting: for one thing, they have both ice cream and gelato. For a serious frozen treat connoisseur, the difference is a big one. And it's fun to have options under one roof.
Another really cool point is that all their stuff is house made! They experiment with new flavors and combinations, and they rotate their flavors regularly. I like this sort of business dynamic. Rather than opening a storefront to sell a pre-made product, they are artisans. They experiment regularly (they have a flavor out right now with pretzels in it!), constantly improving the product, and guaranteeing a unique experience with every visit. It's a business model I can appreciate.
Let me show you what Brandon and I got this weekend:

Decadent.
Sorry for the blurry photo. I took it with my phone. We're getting a new camera soon. Anyway, I'm really excited to have found a great local ice cream parlor. Now I just have to find a good tea house. ^_^
